SynergyNet: Researching digital technologies for education.
Abstract:
Professor Higgins will present on SynergyNet, one of the Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) projects funded by the Teaching and Learning Research Programme (TLRP) through the ESRC and EPSRC. In his presentation he will consider some of the challenges involved in undertaking a design research programme in TEL which aims to contribute to the pedagogical development of the use of digital technologies for learning. The SynergyNet project is researching the use of multi-touch surfaces for classroom learning, and the design of learning spaces to support collaboration, as well as the use of digital resources by teachers and learners. He will report on some of the emerging findings from the project, particularly some of the research undertaken with 10 and 11 year olds working in collaborative groups on mathematics and history tasks which investigates the relationship between group-level and whole class interaction.
