CARN Bulletins

Hard copy editions of the bulletins can be obtained from Charmian Wilby at a cost of £4 plus p&p.. Please contact Charmian on carn@mmu.ac.uk for copies.

Bulletin14 is from the conference held in Liverpool, entitled: 'It's difficult to work without it' - Action research at work in countering hegemonic education policies. It is edited by Ruth Balogh, ISBN 978-1-905476-60-2. The six papers contained in this bulletin are examples from around the world of how action research can be used to counter hegemonic policies by privileging the voices of learners and teachers.

Bulletin 13A is Change Through Reflexive Action and the editor is: Ann-Louise Bäcktorp, ISBN 978-1-905476-37-4. The contributions in this edition of the CARN Bulletin are all concerned with praxis issue. The common denominator is how practice through reflection can open up for change; ie the concern that is at the core of Action Research.

Bulletin 13 Participatory Action Research as a Necessary Practice for the Twenty-First Century Society is published in Spanish, following the CARN Conference in Valladolid in October 2007. The editors are: Alfonso Gutiérrez Martín and Luis Torrego Egido, ISBN 978-1-905476-33-6.

Grasping the opportunities offered by presenting at a CARN Conference

We hope you are considering submitting an abstract for the forthcoming CARN / IPDC Conference. Above is a link to some 'guidelines' for using more creative approaches to presenting at Conferences: 'Planting a seed, not a flower'. We developed them at a CARN workshop in May 2011 at Manchester Metropolitan University and circulated them at the Vienna Conference. We hope they stimulate some new ideas, fresh approaches - and discussion on the CARN blog.
